Dear incoming Sixth Grade Students,

We hope this letter finds you well. This year’s summer reading assignment requires you to read two novels and complete an assignment that has been prepared by your teachers. The assignment is mandatory and must be completed before the start of the new school year.

We strongly encourage you to take this assignment seriously and dedicate ample time to completing it.

We hope you have a wonderful summer and enjoy your time off. If you have any questions about the summer reading assignment, please do not hesitate to contact the middle school office.

Summary:

After 15 years of home schooling, Stargirl bursts into 10th grade in an explosion of color and a clatter of ukulele music, enchanting the Mica student body. But the delicate scales of popularity shift, and Stargirl is shunned for everything that makes her different.

Activity:

Stargirl Scrapbook Character: Create a scrapbook relating to a character in Stargirl.
Requirements: ~5 pictures with 5 or more sentences (paragraph) per picture. These pictures can come from the internet, magazines, and/or family photos.~The pictures and paragraphs should describe the student and relate them to one of the characters in Stargirl.~Descriptions should match the picture and have a reasonable relation/correlation to it.~Give reasons how and why they are similar to that character.
