Dear Parents of Incoming Second Graders,
Below is a list of suggested books to enjoy with your child before school begins in the fall. While there’s no required number of books to read, a goal of uninterrupted 20 minutes of reading per day is a great target.
We recognize that children enter second grade at different reading levels and with a wide variety of interests. We encourage you to help your child select books that both spark their curiosity and support the development of reading fluency.
By nurturing a love of reading and keeping literacy alive throughout the summer, you’re setting your child up for a strong and confident start to first grade!
Sincerely,
The Second Grade Teachers
