Dear Parents of Incoming First Graders,
Below is a list of suggested books to enjoy with your child before school begins in the fall. While there’s no required number of books to read, a goal of 20 minutes of reading per day—whether independently or with a parent—is a great target.
We recognize that children enter first grade at different reading levels and with a wide variety of interests. We encourage you to help your child select books that both spark their curiosity and support the development of reading fluency.
By nurturing a love of reading and keeping literacy alive throughout the summer, you’re setting your child up for a strong and confident start to first grade!
Sincerely,
The First Grade Teachers
