Jazz Ensemble I

Jazz Ensembles provide students with an outlet to explore the history and performance of the jazz idiom, America’s “Classical” music.  Jazz Ensemble I is a select, audition-based top performance group that will participate in festivals throughout the Midwest.  Approximately 3-4 performances will occur throughout the school year, with the season running from November-March.  This ensemble meets once a week. Each section is also expected to hold one weekly sectional rehearsal as well.  Every interested student is HIGHLY encouraged to be enrolled in either Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, or Percussion as well.

Jazz Ensemble II

Jazz Ensemble II provides students with an opportunity to perform Jazz music and, if desired, allow them to improve skills with the intention of eventually moving to Jazz Ensemble I. Students may also be placed in this ensemble if they do not have any previous jazz training and/or play an instrument other than what is in the standard jazz instrumentation. This ensemble meets once a week. Every interested student is HIGHLY encouraged to be enrolled in either Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, or Percussion as well. This ensemble only runs if there is enough interest to warrant two ensembles.
