Dear Students and Families,
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Brooke Rodgers and I am one of Monroe Middle School's Physical Education Teachers. My main passion focuses within fitness, nutrition, healthy living and lifestyles, mindfulness, and wellness. I also enjoy teaching sports and games (of course!), making them as fun as possible for my students, and participating in them too!
I received my B.A. in Elementary Education through North Central College and I am also a Certified Health Coach Practitioner through The American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I have middle school endorsements in Physical Education, ESL, Language Arts, and Social Science. I have also completed my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Leadership through Concordia University.
The basis of my teaching philosophy surrounds my passion to inspire, encourage, and promote not only a safe, positive, and fun learning environment in the areas of team sportsmanship, positive communication and collaboration, lifelong health, nutrition, and physical fitness; but to inspire and encourage a positive change in the health and lives of my students. I taught nutrition, fitness, and health for 8 years. This is my 6th year at Monroe teaching Physical Education.
My husband Erik is a former Monroe student and graduate of Wheaton North High School. We both reside in Wheaton with our precious 2 year old daughter, Elanor.
We also love to travel, hike, and spend a lot of time outdoors. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Elanor. She keeps me on my toes! I also love running, cooking, performing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training exercises), reading about health-related articles in preventative health and using food as medicine.
I am looking forward to another healthy and happy year with my Monroe students!
In health and wellness,
Mrs. Rodgers
