Physical Education at Branham High School is a course aligned with common core standards and is designed to challenge students physically and mentally, incorporating skills from a variety of sport, exercise, and health topics. Standards include achieving appropriate fitness levels (which are measured by the Fitnessgram® tests each Spring), skill acquisition, content knowledge, life skills, and social responsibility. This course is an extension of topics covered in elementary and middle school physical education courses with the goal of students developing life-long enjoyment of exercise and sport. In addition, a variety of health education topics will be covered.
Students are required to take PE for two years, during grades 9 and 10. Students are also able to take Military Science 1 and 2 to meet the physical education requirements.
