In the wooden church pew,
The little boy in the red polo begins to cough.
It starts as he stands in the small space
In front of his sitting father,
Wanting nothing more than to be held.
Dad wraps an arm around son,
And places the other checked sleeve gently against his small mouth,
Taking in all of his ills at once.
