The Joan of Arc Statue

A trip to Meridian Hill Park, the former residence of President John Quincy Adams, will also lead to an encounter with a statue of the famous fifteenth-century French warrior maiden Joan of Arc. It is the only equestrian statue of a woman in Washington, DC.  Joan is also featured in an important series of paintings by Boutet de Monvel at the National Gallery.
