Honda Civic Type R vs. Honda/Acura Integra Type R

by Joxiel Pineiro Rodriguez

Honda was founded on September 24, 1948 in Hamamatsu Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Acura began in 1986 which was when Honda first introduced this brand. Acura is one of Honda’s branches and specializes in Honda’s line of more luxurious vehicles. There has been a large debate on whether the Honda Civic Type R or the Acura Integra Type R was a better vehicle out of the factory. These opinions are based on appearance, performance, and handling. These two vehicles have competed in head to head circuit races with very close times due to the fact that they have very similar features and characteristics.

The Acura Integra Type R (DC2) was built in 1995. This vehicle consisted of a front mounted engine with a front wheel drive system which also featured a 5 speed limited slip differential transmission. (LSD). This vehicle was introduced into the Japanese market with a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine pushing around 195 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. This vehicle ran a lap time of 1:10:53 at the Tsukuba Raceway located in Shimotsuma, Japan.
Although the Honda Civic Type R ran a faster lap time on the track than the Honda Integra Type R, I like both vehicles equally. If I had to choose one over the other it would definitely be difficult.

The Honda Civic Type R (EK9) was built in 1997. This vehicle consists of a hatchback chassis with front a front mounted engine and front wheel drive system which also featured an LSD transmission.. This vehicle was introduced to the Japanese market with a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine pushing around 185 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque.

This vehicle only came in 5 speed manuals do to the fact they were the sport package of the civics. When this vehicle was produced and available to the public it came with steel wheels, no power steering, no air conditioning, and no radio. Later on in time they produced a model that came with all the power accessories called the RX. At the Tsukuba Raceway located in Shimotsuma, Japan this vehicle ran a time of 1:09:48.

2019 McLaren 720s Spider

by Jancarlos Cruz & Jordan Pierce

The new 2019 McLaren 720s Spider is McLaren's newest product as of today. The 720s Spider is a new addition to McLaren's fine lineup of super and hyper-cars. The 720s Spider is the younger brother to it’s behind the regular 720s with of course a non convertible option.

The 720s Spider is a beautiful car in itself and personally my favorite McLaren of the bunch. The 2019 McLaren 720s Spider is mid-engine, RWD and is equipped with a 7-speed gearbox 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 punching out a crazy 710hp (Horse Power) and 568 lb-ft of torque. The 720s has a top speed of 341 km/h (212 mph) and a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds.

Owning such a car with all of this power and luxury isn’t cheap. The 720s Spider is priced at $315,000 as its base model, this is the price with no additional specs or customer customization.

Price will increase with more add on specs and options. The 720s is perfect car for the summer time and is sure to get you from point A to point B fast and in style. Wind blowing through your hair and the sun shining down on your new McLaren. Although the original 720s was an amazing car, there no better feeling that cruising down the freeway in a convertible. The new McLaren comes with a roof made up of carbon fiber, which the company describes as glazed flying buttresses intended to improve rear-quarter visibility. With the new part-glass structure design their is a 12 percent improvement in over-the-shoulder visibility when compared to the 650S Spider. The retractable hard top is predictably fast when operating. It uses a pure electrical actuation system to improve speed and reduce mass compared to the more common electro-hydraulic setup. The new McLaren can be raised or lowered in just 11 seconds, at speeds up to 31 mph, with a small rear window opening automatically in conjunction with the roof. This is faster than the McLaren Spider, which is supposed to be the fastest retractable roof. A lot of super-cars have little luggage space, but the new McLaren a small amount of luggage space beneath the rear tonneau cover when the roof is up. This gives you approximately two cubic feet, if you were wondering.

The 720S coupe is offered in three trim lines which will be the choices of standard, performance, and luxury. Customers are already taking orders for this super-car. This beast of a vehicle will reach the United States in March 2019.
