Book Title: Go Ask Alice

Author: Anonymous

AR points: 7.0

Review: A fifteen-year-old girl begins writing diary entries on September 16th. Her identity is anonymous, her hometown is unnamed and the specific year is not stated but the book refers to her as Alice. Alice loves writing in her diary and even refers to it as her special friend, she first starts writing about how she had a melodramatic breakup and wasn’t in the best mood when she got invited to a party which she thought it was a great idea to lift her mood. Alice then attends this party and during it they started playing a game called “button-button”. This game is when there are cans of coke that they drink and some of them were laced with LSD. Alice had no idea this was what was happening when she drank a coke that contained LSD. This party is the start of her drug addiction and her diary takes you through how her life changed and her struggles with trying to sober up. In my opinion, this book was a very detailed and graphic which took you through the emotions of her addiction and her roller coaster like lifestyle. I believe it is a good read and makes you aware of the dangers of drugs and how to be conscious that one mistake can affect the rest of your life.

Review: This book is told in the view of Hazel Grace Lancaster who has been living with cancer for three of her seventeen years of life. Hazel Grace has to attend these support group meetings which is where she meets Augustus. Augustus is currently in remission and lost his leg due to cancer. Hazel tells Augustus her favorite book and he uses his wish from the make a wish foundation to go to Amsterdam so Hazel can meet the author of her favorite book. When they go on this trip together they end up falling in love. During the trip, Augustus reveals to hazel that his cancer had returned and has spread throughout his entire body. When they return back home Hazel stays by his side until his death. In my opinion, this book was a very emotional but great book. This book takes you behind the emotional view of love and death and the impact it can have on one's life and how to be thankful for the opportunities you have in life. I highly recommend reading this book.

Title: The Distance Between Us

Author: Kasie West

AR Points: 8.0

Review: The main character in the story is Caymen Meyers. Caymen Meyers had grown up helping her mom run a doll shop which also happens to be their home. One day as she is working in the doll shop, Xander Spence appears. Caymen greets Xander not knowing that this was the start to their star crossed love story. The problem was, Xander is extremely wealthy, Caymen is not and their families don’t exactly mix. This problem caused tension in their relationship, but can they overcome it? This personally wasn’t one of my favorite books but I think “The Distance Between Us” was relatively good and would definitely recommend if you are into corny and cliche romance novels. It is an easy read and takes you through a roller coaster of emotions that include betrayal, love, and confusion.

Title: The Best of Me

Author: Nicholas Sparks

AR Points: 15.0

Review: This is a story about Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier who return to their home town of Oriental after news that a close friend has passed. When they make it to oriental they rekindle their romance from back to when they were teenagers but many other things from their past come back and start to stir up problems. Not only is their past stirring up problems but their family comes with baggage that will forever haunt them. Amanda’s husband is a drunk and she blames herself for that, while on the other hand, Dawson’s family wants nothing more than to see him dead. All these problems circling around them makes them realize how much they needed to have each other around and that they never stopped loving one another. I would 10/10 recommend this book, this not only takes you through an amazing love story but it keeps you in suspense with the recurring dangerous problems that occur. This book has the capabilities of keeping you at the edge of your chair but at the same time making you smile at the joyous moments.
