● Video icon (Turn camera on/off)
Turn on the camera to show your child’s face to the teacher and other students. Please notify the teacher in advance if you wish to turn the camera off.
● Chat function
You can send questions or messages to the teacher via text chat. If you have questions during the lesson, it's a good idea to notify the teacher through chat. Tip: You can choose to send messages to "Everyone" or only to the "Host."
● Participant list
Click the "Participants" icon at the bottom of the screen to see the current participants. You can also mute/unmute yourself and change your name here.
● Reaction icon
Use reaction functions such as raising your hand or clapping for non-verbal communication. The hand-raising feature is especially useful when you have a question or want to speak.
● Breakout rooms (if necessary)
The teacher may set up breakout rooms for smaller group lessons. Follow the instructions to join the designated room.
● Screen sharing
When the teacher shares their screen, pay attention to the instructions. To use the annotation tool on the shared screen, the host must enable the annotation function.
● Recording
If the lesson is being recorded, "Recording" will be displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. Only the host can manage recordings; students cannot record on their side.
4. Zoom Annotation Feature
During the lesson, when the teacher shares their screen, you can use Zoom’s annotation tool to write or mark directly on the screen. Here's how to use the annotation tool:
Step 1: Start screen sharing
When the teacher shares their screen, "View Options" will appear at the top of the screen. Click this and select "Annotate."
Step 2: Using the annotation tool
The annotation toolbar will appear, and the following features are available:
● Mouse: Disable annotations and return to regular mouse operation.
● Select: Select, move, or resize annotations on the screen.
● Text: You can enter text on the screen. This is useful when you want to visualize a question during the lesson.
● Draw: Add lines, arrows, or shapes (such as rectangles or circles) to highlight specific parts of the screen.
● Stamp: Insert symbols such as stars, hearts, or checkmarks on the screen.
● Spotlight: Use a pointer to indicate the area you want to highlight.
● Eraser: Erase the annotations you’ve drawn.
● Format: Change colors, line thickness, and text size.
● Clear: Erase all annotations on the screen at once.
Step 3: Save
If you want to keep a record of the lesson’s content, you can save the screen with annotations. Press the save button and download the file in PNG or PDF format (the ability to save annotations depends on the host’s settings).
5. Tips for During the Lesson
● Preparing the environment
Ensure your child can focus by having them participate in a quiet, well-lit space. Avoid placing them in front of a window as it can make their face appear dark.
● Preparing the device
While you can participate using a computer, tablet, or smartphone, a computer or tablet is recommended for better visibility. Make sure the device is fully charged or connected to a charger during the lesson.
● Testing Zoom beforehand
Before the lesson begins, test Zoom’s audio and video settings to ensure everything works properly.
● Minimizing distractions
Turn off the TV and radio during the lesson, and ensure that pets or siblings are not creating distractions.
● Preparing water and light snacks
Having water nearby can help maintain focus during the lesson. It's also a good idea to have a light snack available if necessary.
● Using break time
If the lesson is long, the teacher may provide a break. Use this time for a restroom break or to stretch and refresh.
● Parental assistance
For younger children, especially when using Zoom for the first time, it’s helpful for parents to provide assistance with screen operations and muting/unmuting.

Joining a Kahoot game as a student while attending a Zoom class.
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Join your teacher’s Zoom meeting as usual.
Make sure you can see the shared screen or instructions.
Your teacher will start the Kahoot and display a game PIN on their screen (usually 6 digits).
Sometimes they send the PIN via Zoom chat.
You have two options:
On a separate device (recommended)
Go to kahoot.it in a web browser or use the Kahoot mobile app.
On the same device as Zoom
Open a browser tab or app alongside Zoom.
On kahoot.it, you’ll see a box asking for the Game PIN.
Type the PIN exactly as shown.
Click Enter.
Type your first name or nickname (sometimes your teacher requests your full name).
Click OK, go!
Follow the on-screen questions.
Select answers quickly — Kahoot awards points based on speed and accuracy.
Your teacher will see the leaderboard live on Zoom.
💡 Tips:
Use a separate device for Kahoot if possible (Zoom on one, Kahoot on another) so you don’t have to switch tabs.
Mute your microphone unless your teacher asks otherwise.
Check your internet — Kahoot requires a stable connection.
