Description:
With the move the semesters, faculty now have the opportunity to incorporate new pedagogies into their instruction. One thing to consider is how best to incorporate technology into their instruction in a way that supports the student, rather than acting as a barrier to their success.
In this FLC, we are going to explore the past, present and the future of educational technologies, with an eye towards how best to implement these technologies to ensure that we are meeting the goals of GI2025, as well as finding new ways to engage our students with technology that will help them with their future careers.
Purpose:
In general, the purpose of this learning community isn't to make you an expert in teaching with technology, but to make you feel comfortable with implementing technology in your class.
This learning community will be a space in which faculty can feel comfortable sharing their experiences with technology, be it positive or negative.
The group will foster a sense of exploration and experimentation when it comes to technology.
Activities
Some activities that I envision we will be doing during our FLC include:
Outcomes
Below are the preliminary outcomes for this learning community. At our first meeting, I'd like for us to discuss as a group what our shared outcomes will be.
Meetings:
Two meetings are scheduled for 3 hours - to allow for prep work for the upcoming term and for prepping for the Spring Symposium.
The meetings listed below are preliminary, and we can adjust as we see fit when we first meet in November. As long as we meet a total of 20 hours, we can play around with our schedule. Note that not all will have to be in person - we can explore zoom and/or other remote meeting options.
