Faculty in Residence: Fadi Castronovo
Peer support and the mutual accountability of a writing community provide a structure that encourages faculty scholarly productivity. This Faculty Learning Community will create the physical and intellectual space to work on projects with a view to developing a publishable result. Meetings will include discussions of writing practices and suggestions to help writers with those practices, and the opportunity for peer response, in addition to space and time for writing.
Purpose:
To provide a place to:
- focus and write
- learn strategizes to develop a long-term writing practice
- share with fellow writers your progress
- motivate healthy and productive writing practices
- develop a structured writing practice
Activities:
- Set a realistic long-term goal for the entire FLC
- Set weekly goals and help each other to meet them
- Perform research in healthy writing practices and developing a "writer's productivity toolbox"
- Complete a publishable project and submit it to an appropriate publisher (article, book chapter, other creative endeavors)
- Prepare an individual report on progress for the final FLC Symposium and participate in preparations for the symposium and report
Outcomes:
Each participant will have
- Identified a suitable project
- Participated in the required number of FLC meetings and discussions to create a writing community for encouragement, support, feedback, etc.
- Completed the project
- Submitted the project for publication
- Completed an individual report for Faculty Development
- Contributed to the FLC Symposium materials and final report

Ten (10) meetings, dates and times.
Fridays, from 1:00 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Meeting dates (11 are listed; you are required to attend 10)

- Dec. 7, 2019 (where we'll discuss writing plans over year-end break)

The Faculty Learning Community for the Completing a Scholarly Project During the Academic Year has developed the following writer’s toolkit.
The purpose of this toolkit is to support faculty in planning, managing, executing, and focusing on the completion of a scholarly project.
