Q: I am not teaching the Mobile CSP course in the CE format? Can I still volunteer to submit program evaluation data?
A: The Mobile CSP research project has scaled back and is currently only accepting research data submissions from those enrolled in our CE partnership program with Capital Community College and Southwest Minnesota State University.
Our ultimate goal is to create a fun and effective CSP course where ALL teachers and students can be successful. The data we collect from our program evaluation project gives us valuable insight into the effectiveness of our PD and curriculum and also provides feedback about how we can improve our materials for all students and teachers. Research project participants - both teachers and students - have an opportunity to provide feedback directly to the Mobile CSP curriculum and research teams. We use feedback from our surveys and findings from our analysis to directly inform any changes we make to our curriculum and training.
Teachers who volunteer to participate in the research project will also have the latest Mobile CSP midterm and final exam created and graded for them. Teachers simply distribute the link and student tokens and Mobile CSP does the rest.
Teachers will NOT receive financial compensation or stipends for volunteering to participate in research. However, Mobile CSP will create and grade our latest midterm and final exam for research volunteers.
Deadlines: To participate in the 2021-22 project, volunteer by the dates below:
Full-year course -- October 29, 2021
Fall Semester/Block course -- October 29, 2021
Spring Semester/Block course -- February 25, 2022
The project research requirements will include:
Collecting student permission forms
Issuing provided midterm | Issued online and graded by Mobile CSP
Share Create 2 and Explore 2 scores when available
Issuing provided final exam | Issued online and graded by Mobile CSP
Distributing student post-survey
Completing teacher end of course survey
Ensure Student Information spreadsheet is update and complete
The time commitment to submit program evaluation data is minimal and includes activities that will already be completed as a part of the Mobile CSP course.
The Mobile CSP program evaluation research project ran from 2014-2020. We have downsized our project for the 2020-21 academic year and beyond. We are no longer asking our AP or non-AP teacher partners to facilitate student data collection but will continue internal program evaluation to ensure the effectiveness of the Mobile CSP course will continue. An optional survey will be shared with teachers and students at the end of the academic year.
