The purpose of the pilot phases and research project is to collect feedback about the newly developed Alexa in Space lessons.

Project Timeline
Teachers should expect to spend approximately 3-6 hours on PD activities, 6-8 hours on research project activities, and approximately 8 hours or 10 45-minute class sessions implementing the lessons.
Before May 10 | Complete prep work
May 10 | Training from 6-9:00 PM ET
May 10-13 | Complete asynchronous work & collect forms from students
May - June | Implement lessons
End of academic year | complete surveys

Those who are selected to participate in the pilot will be expected to complete the following:
Attend the online training on Tuesday, May 10 from 6:00-9:00 PM ET via Zoom
Complete any follow-up activities asynchronously (2-3 hours) by Friday, May 13, 2022.
Implement the Alexa in Space lessons by the end of the 2021-22 academic year.
Plan to meet teacher and student research commitments (see all in red on this page)
Receive compensation by completing research requirements. Participation in research is always voluntary but those who do not meet requirements may not be eligible for compensation opportunities.

Survey access information will be sent from the Mobile CSP Team when the survey is ready to be completed. A link will be made available here after the survey is sent via email.
Research Commitment - BEFORE teaching Alexa in Space
Distribute and collect student permission forms
Plan to implement Alexa in Space (ten 45-minute lessons) before the end of the 2021-22 academic year

Distribute link and allow students time to complete the student post-unit survey
Teachers are responsible for distributing the survey link to students. Students should NOT complete the survey until they have completed all of Alexa in Space.

Teachers will have an opportunity to receive an Amazon Gift card for meeting research requirements.
Teachers will also have first access to the Alexa in Space lessons and new MIT App Inventor environment.
Teachers will have access to ongoing support from a qualified and experienced PD Facilitator, our online teacher forum, a professional learning community, and the Mobile CSP research team
