2019-2020 Art 2 & 3: Painting
Art 2 & 3 Painting students explored color theory, color mixing & blending, proportions, master artists' styles, individual and corporate art critique, and painting on non-traditional surfaces such as Plexiglas panels. Prior to At Home Learning, they were designing and creating compositions that had raised, actual texture as well as implied texture created from brush stroke lines and color. While at home during shelter-in-place, students created monochromatic watercolor scenes, clouds eliciting their feelings and reminders to look up. Their final project was a Shelter-in-Place self-portrait in which they portrayed themselves in their favorite spot that gave positive feelings of rest, peace, and joy.
In my opinion and experience with each of them as their teacher, this painting class was a joy to teach, and they astounded, delighted, and inspired me daily. We all learned from and encouraged each other to grow as artists, build technical skills, try new methods, explore color palettes, and enjoy the process!
