Significant Figures are important, in fact they are significant!
***First watch the video on significant figures below***
Please take notes on the video!
Then go to google classroom and complete the worksheet. Upload your work to google.
Remember copying homework will not help you on quizzes or tests, so please ask for help if you are stuck. DO NOT COPY!
There are two different rules for computing with significant figures. One that applies to adding/ subtracting and one that applies to multiplying/ dividing. When adding and subtracting we report our answers with the least decimal places instead of significant figures. When multiplying and dividing we report answers with the least significant figures. Most cases in chemistry we will be multiplying and dividing.

Chromatography (Our First Lab)
Focus on these 5 particular techniques. All seen in the links above!
Chromatography- separation based on polarity using chromatography paper
Filtration- separation based on size of particles by passing through a filter
Centrifugation- Separation based on density by spinning really fast
Distillation- Separation based on boiling point
Decant- Separation by separating the top layer using a separatory funnel
