REGULATIONS FOR THE USE OF CHROMEBOOK DEVICES
Please read these regulations carefully together with your child, sign the form at the end of this document and hand it in to the secretary's office.
1.- The CHROMEBOOK device given to the pupil and, where appropriate, those devices not purchased at the school are considered educational tools for learning, and as such must be used in accordance with these regulations.
Failure to comply with these regulations will be subject to sanction, in accordance with the provisions of these regulations and the school's internal rules and regulations.
Working with the G Suite platform for educational centres implies the creation by the centre of a user account on the platform in the name of your child and a personalised email account.
Chromebook devices are linked to a licence to control and manage their content and operation, as well as to be able to assign restriction and security policies. This function is NECESSARY and MANDATORY in order to ensure proper use and correct functioning of the devices on a daily basis.
2.- Each device is assigned to a specific student, they are not interchangeable. The use of devices assigned to other people, whether students or teachers, is absolutely forbidden, except with the specific authorisation of the teaching staff. Failure to comply with this prohibition will be considered a serious offence.
The theft of equipment belonging to third parties (students, teachers or centre), in addition to the civil and criminal consequences that it may entail, will be sanctioned as a very serious offence.
3.- The use of passwords and accounts is personal. It is the responsibility of each student not to provide or exchange these passwords and accounts with other students. If you suspect that another student may have knowledge of your password or account, you must immediately inform your tutor so that the appropriate measures can be taken. Unauthorised use of third party passwords or accounts will be considered a very serious offence.
4.- In order to ensure the proper use of the devices and their location, the centre reserves the right to activate, if necessary, the remote tracking and monitoring tools deemed necessary.
The centre shall be able to access the device for maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting.
5.- Teachers and IT technical staff, in the exercise of their duties, may supervise, check and correct the activities that are being carried out and the content of these, also ensuring that they are being used appropriately and that only the applications required for the class or educational activity are open.
If they understand or suspect that the device is being used to carry out conduct contrary to these rules and the school's general regulations, they may confiscate the device from the student. In situations in which the public interest may be involved, such as the possible violation of the fundamental rights of other students or teachers or when the integrity of third parties is at risk (harassment, threats, cyberbullying, sexting, grooming, gender violence, etc.), the school may access the content of the device without the consent of the interested parties, without prejudice to the fact that such access must be documented and the parents or guardians of the student must be informed.
6.- The student must be responsible for bringing the assigned device to school every day, with the battery fully charged for its correct functioning and use, and thus be able to properly follow the development and rhythm of the classes.
In the event that the student does not bring the device, or brings it with an uncharged battery, the school will not provide a replacement device or power supply system for that day.
Students must also bring headphones compatible with the device to the centre every day in order to be able to listen to the multimedia content decided by the teacher at any given time. The headphones may not be wireless, in order to avoid interference with other users' equipment.
The sound of the device must be muted at all times, unless the teacher deems otherwise because it is necessary for the educational activity being carried out.
Failure to bring the device to school, failure to bring it with a properly charged battery or failure to bring headphones will be considered as forgetting books, notebooks or sports uniform, and may have equivalent disciplinary and academic consequences.
7.- The use of the Chromebook is restricted exclusively to the classrooms of the school during class hours and under the supervision of the teaching staff, and always in relation to the teaching activities taking place.
Unless otherwise indicated by the teaching staff, it may not be used in playgrounds, corridors, dining room, sports areas, changing rooms or access areas to the school, either during the school day or when entering/leaving the school, nor may it be taken on scheduled outings, such as excursions, social gatherings or cultural visits.
8.- The use of the webcam of the device is only authorised in class and for carrying out or monitoring the activities planned by the teaching staff. It is absolutely forbidden to capture the image or voice of teachers, students or school employees, as well as its broadcasting by any means, outside of these situations. Failure to comply with this obligation will be considered a serious offence.
It is expressly forbidden for students to capture or publish photographs, audios, videos or any other material with audiovisual content that has been obtained on the school premises, without the express authorisation of the school and, where appropriate, without the express consent of those who appear in these files.
9.- It is forbidden to access social networks, instant messaging programmes, email platforms other than the one provided by the school or online games from the device during the school day.
It is expressly forbidden to use the device or any other electronic device to access, use, store, obtain or disseminate any type or class of files, documentation, e-mails or web pages, among others, when: they contain materials with inappropriate content unsuitable for minors; are discriminatory on the grounds of race, sex, religion, nationality; or are defamatory, harmful, threatening or offensive. Infringement of this prohibition shall be considered a very serious offence.
10.- The configuration of the device is that decided by the school as appropriate for the use of the tool. Under no circumstances may the student, their family or third parties on their behalf modify, block or remove the restrictions, settings or applications pre-established by the school or install new applications or utilities without the school's authorisation.
Any malicious attempt to alter the data, files or configuration of a Chromebook, whether their own or someone else's, as well as unauthorised access or attempted access to any other device, computer structure or information, whether belonging to another pupil, teacher or the school, will be considered a serious offence and will result in disciplinary action in accordance with the school's internal rules and regulations.
11.- Storage of data, documents and information: All data, documents, work or files generated during classes and school activities are stored in the cloud of the centre's domain, so that their conservation and availability is guaranteed. It is absolutely forbidden to save this information on the hard drive of the device. Under no circumstances can the centre guarantee the recovery of the information.
12.- Outside school hours and the school premises, students may use the Chromebook device, although they must do so through the school's domain. The limitations on the use of the device implemented will remain in force outside the school.
13. General care: Students and their families are responsible for the general care of the device. The following basic rules of care must be observed:
The student should be aware of the value of the device, the need to treat it properly, be aware at all times of where he/she leaves it, as well as to keep an eye on it.
Do not use the device near food and liquids.
Cables and removable storage devices must be carefully inserted into the device. It may not be transported, stored in a case or backpack with cables or external devices attached.
Once the battery of the device is charged, it must be unplugged from the mains.
Ventilation grilles must not be covered or obstructed.
The devices must remain free of any writing, drawings or stickers, except for those that may be affixed by the centre and those that may be placed by the student or family with the student's name.
It is important to transport the device with the necessary care.
The covers of the device must always be tightly closed when it is being transported.
Never carry, move or lift the device by pulling the screen. Always lift or move it by holding it from the bottom with the cover closed.
It is recommended to purchase a suitable protective case.
The screen of the device can be easily damaged if it is not treated with due care. The screen is particularly sensitive to excessive pressure on the screen, so it is very important to observe the following instructions:
Do not lean, do not exert pressure on the cover of the device when it is closed.
Do not store the device with the screen in the open position.
Do not place any object near the device that could exert pressure on the screen or place anything in the backpack that presses against the lid of the device.
Do not touch the screen with anything that could mark or scratch its surface.
Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (pens, pencils, paper, etc.).
Students and their families will be held responsible for intentional or negligent damage caused to
their own or third parties' devices, regardless of the disciplinary consequences that this may entail,
in accordance with the school's internal rules and regulations.
14.- Repairs: Devices purchased from the school include a repair service. Therefore, devices that are broken or do not work properly should be handed in to the IT Department so that they can be checked and repaired properly. For the duration of the repair, the school will provide the pupil with another device, which must be returned once the pupil's device has been repaired or replaced.
Devices purchased through the school cannot be taken to a repair or maintenance service outside the school, as they will then lose their warranty.
If the device has not been purchased at the school, in the event of a breakdown or malfunction, the family must arrange for it to be repaired by an external technical service of their choice. In these cases, the school will not provide a courtesy device during the repair.
Limitations of the repair service included in the purchase of the devices through the school. This service does not include the repair of the following damages:
Damage to the power supply.
Damage caused intentionally.
Damage caused by negligence, understood as the non-observance of the care guidelines listed in the previous point (13 General care).
purely aesthetic damage that does not affect the functioning of the device, such as, but not limited to, scratches/bumps on the casing, scratches on the screen, discolouration, wear and tear.
As an exception to the above, damage caused intentionally or negligently to own or third party equipment will be repaired by the school, although the school may pass the cost on to the family of the pupil who caused the damage, without prejudice to any disciplinary action that may be taken.
15.- The purchase of the equipment from the centre includes an insurance policy that covers the theft of the equipment, subject to the presentation of the appropriate report to the Security Forces and Bodies or Court of Instruction, a full copy of which must be submitted to the centre. Faking the theft of the device will be considered a very serious offence.
16.- The total or partial destruction of the serial number printed on the device will entail the loss of the insurance and the guarantee of the equipment.
17.- Infringements and penalties: The different infractions related to the use of Chromebook devices that have been mentioned throughout this document are included as a summary, and will be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the Internal Regulations of the centre for each type of infraction, without prejudice to the civil or criminal actions that correspond in each case to the injured parties:
