One of the simplest things we can do in any space (with our restaurant server, our internet installer, or someone in a game) is to ask, "how can I be praying for you?"
This is built on a foundation of praying for people which leads our hearts to care for them and then to share the most important gift with them.
Watch two pastor parents talk about the intentional witness of their Smash tournament-winning boys.
Just as among other audiences, natural mode evangelism is a process of coming alongside people in their spiritual journeys. The first step here is to discover where a person is in their spiritual journey.
Right in the middle of a game isn't the time to preach, but it is simple and easy to ask a SOMETIME question like this: "Hey, it's been fun playing games with you, but I'd love to hear more about what's been going on in your life--maybe sometime we can chat about your spiritual journey and mine. Would you like that?"
From there, you can utilize the training from CoJourners to move with them along the path of discovering Jesus. For gamers, we also REALLY like to track their faith along the 5 thresholds of a seeker with this spreadsheet. This journey is described in greater detail through the book "I Once Was Lost" and in this video series.
See the video here for a sample training we can give gaming students on how to explain the gospel and start spiritual conversations.
After a spiritual conversation, students can sometimes struggle to know what to do next, but many people need grace, truth, and time before they're ready to commit to the Lord.
One way to keep the conversation alive over time is to invite them to do a Bible App Plan together.
After each day's reading (which they can do at their own speed), there is an opportunity to drop comments to each other. We wrote this God and Gaming Plan to take people through the Knowing God Personally but contextualized into
