Getting students to come to us requires a lot of effort without guarantee of who will come. On the other hand, if we go to where they are already, conversations and relationship are all but guaranteed! When it comes to gaming, there are 3 easy places to find them on campus.
Gaming lounges appear in some form on almost every campus, whether as one screen in a cafeteria or a dedicated and decorated room. Wander in, get curious, and test the waters on how they think their faith intersects with their passions.
Colleges invest millions of dollars on esports (usually in the athletics department), awarding full scholarships to players who will attend practices with a coach and compete against other schools. Some will go on to earn millions in pro esports. Engaging them with respect, like you would a sports team.
Student-led gaming clubs are often among the biggest orgs on campus. Find them at club fairs, or look them up on the school website. They might be open to a collaborative event, and your students can be a light by participating in the club.
