SEBH
Two guiding resources compose the "HOW" of supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs at the Universal Tier at CCSD:
- Effective Classroom Practices: These are the core ten practices to be implemented in every classroom. They focus on establishing structures of predictability, clearly teaching and reinforcing positive behavior, and providing engaging learning environments, all within an atmosphere of healthy relationships.
- CCSD SEBH Belief Statements: These are the beliefs and mindsets for us to aspire to as educators who are working to support the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of ALL students.
Resources for the "WHAT" of supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs at the Universal Tier include:
- A scope and sequence of SEBH lessons that is designed by school counselors and facilitators and taught by classroom teachers, school counselors, and facilitators, depending on the grade level of students.
- Iowa Department of Education's Core SEL Competencies
When unexpected behavior occurs, school staff respond in a consistent approach within the range of responses as identified in the CCSD Behavior Response Matrix. The ultimate goal of the response in every situation is to discourage the behavior from happening again while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students. This visual represents the interconnectedness Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum and Environments and the Behavior Response Matrices, which are linked below.
