Employee Training

The following is a list of a trainings, policies, regulations and code of professional responsiblity to be completed and reviewed by all Cromwell Public Schools employees. After you have completed all items, please submit to the Human Resources Department.

DCF MANDATED TRAININGS:
1.DCF Mandated Reporter Training - All new employees must complete DCF mandated training. ALL Current Employees must complete this training annually.

All new employees must complete DCF mandated reporter training.  Click on the DCF Mandated Training Link above.  This will bring you directly to the DCF website, Connecticut Mandated Reporter Training for School Employees, click the start button.  The training will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.  At the end of the training a certificate will be available.  Please submit that certificate to the Human Resources Department, mdimauro@cromwell.k12.ct.us.  

2. NEW 2023- DCF Identification and Prevention of Adult Sexual Misconduct Against Children - All new employees and All Current Employees must complete this training.  (All employees will repeat this training once every three (3) years).  This will bring you directly to the DCF website, Connecticut Mandated Reporter Training for School Employees, click the start button.  The training will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.  At the end of the training a certificate will be available.  Please submit that certificate to the Human Resources Department, mdimauro@cromwell.k12.ct.us.  

3. NEW 2023 DCF - Introduction to Child Trafficking in Connecticut Mandatory training - New employees within 6 months of hire (August/September, January) and All Current Employees in 2023-24 school year. Effective 2/26/2024 - Training is now online.  Training was offered in person by DCF previously. This training will take approximately two-hours to complete.

Board of Education 4000 Policies
All new employees are required to read and review the Board of Education 4000 series policies.  ALL Current Employees are required to read and review policies annually.  Once you have read the policies please sign off on form

CHRO - Sexual Harassment Training - All new employees ONLY must complete mandated Sexual Harassment training.  

All new employees must receive two hours of Sexual Harassment Training.  Any existing employee must receive the training by October 1, 2020, unless they have received training since October 1, 2019 in which case they do not need to receive it again except for the supplemental training required not less than every ten years.  Once you complete the training, please submit your certificate from CHRO to the Human Resources Office.

TITLE IX TRAINING - Reporting Sexual Harassment Under the New Rules.  - All new employees ONLY must complete training. You will need the password from Human Resources Office in order to continue.

Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program receiving federal funding. The federal regulations implementing Title IX were significantly revised and the new rules became effective in August 2020. This training provides an overview of the new Title IX regulations and explains the requirement for all school employees to report instances or allegations of sex discrimination and sexual harassment. Participants will learn the new definitions imposed by the revised regulations and the standards for reporting sexual harassment, as well as review scenarios concerning sexual harassment. 

Bloodborne Pathogens Training

All New Employees, and ALL Current Employees - required training for the following jobs only: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA); Café Workers, Custodians, Nurses, Pre-K Paraprofessionals, Secretaries, School Administrators.  Bloodborne Pathogens Training Video:  watch the Blood Borne Pathogens training slideshow and complete the training questions and sign-off form.

PARAPROFESSIONAL HANDBOOK AND SIGN OFF FORM. All new paraprofessional(s): Paraprofessional Handbook and sign-off form - please sign last page of form and submit to the Director of Student Services.


CHEMICAL HYGIENE SAFETY TRAINING 

CPS Chemical Hygiene Safety training -All CHS and CMS Science, CTE, Art for employees who have already completed initial safety training. 

All current CHS and CMS Science, CTE and Art employees who have completed an initial safety training previously are required as part of CPS hygiene plan to complete a yearly review of safety.  Click on CPS Chemical Hygiene Website where you can click on the Annual safety review.  The training should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Once you have completed the training make sure you complete the google form assessment questions found on the last slide of the review. 


*Important:  Employees who do not have an initial safety training certificate please contact your director/supervisor for next steps.





Restraint & Seclusion Training 

All New Employees - required for all staff working with student needs. All Current Employees working with student needs must complete training annually.
