Student Teachers/Interns Placement Information

Student Teacher and Intern placements are coordinated district-wide through the Human Resources Department.
Universities and Colleges should contact Michele S. DiMauro, Director of Human Resources, directly with requests.

A packet of information should be sent with each placement request on the eligible student teacher/intern. This packet should contain the following:        

•  Application for student teaching (provided by University)

•  Current Resume / Un-official transcripts

•  Placement Information:

  • • • • Requirements of Placement,

        • Duration of Placement

        • Expectations of the Cooperating Teacher and District

        • Whether a district email is required

Once the packet of information is received, Human Resources will reach out to qualified Cooperating Teachers. Once a placement is found, the University/College will be notified. All student teachers should contact the Cooperating Teacher for an interview. 

Student Teachers/Interns Forms and Requirements

All student teachers must complete the requirements listed below. No placement shall begin if the proper paperwork and requirements are not completed and met.

1. Student/Intern/Observation of Teacher Confidentiality form

2. Personal Contact Form

3. DCF Release

4. FBI Privacy Act - signoff (MUST BE RETURNED TO HR PRIOR TO PRE-ENROLLMENT FOR FINGERPRINTING)

5. Fingerprinting - see below regarding steps

Please note that there have been changes to State/Federal law regarding fingerprinting. Please see below for changes and the new fingerprint procedure.

"RESC  (EastConn/ACES/LEARN/CREC) cannot maintain national criminal history record information (CHRI) on file for the purposes of re-disseminating (resending) the CHRI to other schools. Once the original requesting school(s) receives the CHRI, then the RESC cannot re-disseminate the CHRI again, even at the applicant’s request."

Student Teachers/Interns Fingerprint Procedure

EFFECTIVE JULY 19, 2021, YOU MUST FIRST PRE-ENROLL AND PAY ONLINE BEFORE GETTING FINGERPRINTING.  

1. Complete and submit FBI Privacy Act paperwork.

2. Contact Samantha Gasmen, Human Resources Assistant, at sgasmen@cromwell.k12.ct.us for Cromwell's fingerprint code and procedure. *You will need this to proceed.

3. First step is to pre-enroll online to get fingerprinted.  There is a fee you will need to pay on line.

4. Once that is completed, you will get an email with your tracking number on it.  You will need that in order to get fingerprinted.

5. Call the Cromwell Police Department to make an appointment to get fingerprinted (click on link for website for number).
