Standardised Module for Epidemic Community-Based Surveillance (ECBS)
Community-based surveillance involves members of the community actively participating in the detection, reporting, resolution and monitoring of health issues. This approach enables early intervention at the start of an epidemic or outbreak and helps contain its spread.
The RIPOSTE programme has contributed to:
the development of a training-for-trainers curriculum to roll out CBS within communities.
the creation of a training programme for Emergency Response Unit (ERU) teams, allowing them to implement CBS measures rapidly in communities facing emergencies caused by disasters or epidemics.
Discover in this video the principles and objectives of community-based surveillance in epidemic contexts.

Adaptability and relevance
The training-for-trainers modules have been widely tested and are adaptable to various settings.
The SBC public health emergency response team training modules are designed for National Societies that are endowed with ERU teams or wish to develop them.
