Christmas at Cranberry is nothing to scoff at. Staff decorate their rooms in grandiose ways, students don holiday themed apparel, and administrators spread holiday cheer. Even while virtual schooling is in place, Cranberry’s journalism class and student council are proud to present a virtual spirit week dedicated to the joys of the Christmas season.

This festive idea came to light following a successful virtual spirit week back in April and the large amount of positive feedback. The goal of this virtual event is to get the whole community in the holiday spirit.

As said by Mrs. Dixon, the instructor of Cranberry’s journalism class, “Last year, we had a lot of positive feedback for our virtual spirit week. People said that it gave them something fun to focus on and do as a family. We are hoping it will do the same with this year’s Holiday Spirit Week. Our students and staff could use some Christmas cheer, and this is one way we think Journalism and Student Council can inspire it.”

Beginning on Monday, December 14 and running through December 19, students, staff, and community members will have the opportunity to participate in holiday themed activities with the chance to win prizes.

The themes include “Christmas Decorating (cookie, ornament, mask, yourself, et cetera…)” on Monday, “Christmas Pet Pics” on Tuesday, “Funny Christmas Pics (family, friends, or even by yourself)” on Wednesday, “Holiday Themed Tiktoks” on Thursday, “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” on Friday, and “Best Christmas Baking” on Saturday. 

Additionally, there will be two bonus Christmas challenges that will be open for entries all week. The first of which will be a Christmas door decorating competition (entries will be due on December 21), and the second will be a challenge dedicated to committing an act of kindness (entries will be due on December 22). 

All entries will be due at 7 P.M. on the day of each theme, and each entry will be evaluated by a panel of judges to ensure quality and fairness, save for the act of kindness where the story will be determined randomly to receive a gift. 

Furthermore, it is important to note that the Zonta club aided this effort with a monetary donation, and to make this virtual spirit week even more memorable, prizes will be wrapped and delivered to the house of each winner.
