Humane Society

Why we do this page

Journalism tells stories and speaks for those who sometimes don't have a voice. We think it is important to promote animals in our local Humane Society to help our community. These animals are surrendered for various reasons: neglect, surrender, or stray sometimes found wandering around in terrible condition. The Humane Society takes them in, helps them heal, and finds forever homes for them. Each week Jenna goes to the shelter to take pictures and get information on the animals. Please continue to adopt, not shop!

P.S- Don't forget to check out the article "307 Days Without a Home"  written by Jenna Biltz and Reyna Watson, linked at the bottom of this page!

My name is Jenna Biltz, I am a Cranberry High School senior and I am proud to be the journalist in lead of the Humane Society page. I do my best to take the photos, write the descriptions, and update the website weekly, and I love watching the journeys of these incredible animals year round!

For over 50 years the Venango County Humane Society has found loving homes for thousands of companion pets in our community. The Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. Their mission is to positively impact homeless companion animals through advocacy, education, community awareness, compassionate care and adoption.

Dog of the week!

              Cat of the week!

                                  Figgy

Meet Figgy, a young male mixed breed who is neutered and has all of his vaccinations. Figgy came in as a stray so history on this young pup is limited. Although it is known that he is very athletic and high energy, he loves to run and jump and play! He seems to like other dogs but a meet and greet is recommended prior to adoption!

Amethyst

Meet Amethyst a young female kitten who is spayed and has all of her vaccinations. Amethyst enjoys spending time playing with other cats and exploring, don't be fooled though she also loves cuddling with her humans.
