Journalism tells stories and speaks for those who sometimes don't have a voice. We think it is important to promote animals in our local Humane Society to help our community. These animals are surrendered for various reasons: neglect, surrender, or stray sometimes found wandering around in terrible condition. The Humane Society takes them in, helps them heal, and finds forever homes for them. Each week Jenna goes to the shelter to take pictures and get information on the animals. Please continue to adopt, not shop!

For over 50 years the Venango County Humane Society has found loving homes for thousands of companion pets in our community. The Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. Their mission is to positively impact homeless companion animals through advocacy, education, community awareness, compassionate care and adoption.
Hello, my name is Addison Karns and I am a Junior at Cranberry Highschool. I am the head of the Humane Society for the 2024-2025 school year. I am beyond excited to be able to spend time with these animals and help them find their forever home!
Hello! My name is Madison Earp, and I'm a Junior at Cranberry High School. I am thrilled to visit the animals every week and support them on their journey to find their eternal homes!!
Meet Koda, a 2-year-old adult male Australian Shepherd who is vaccinated, neutered, and house-trained. Koda came to the shelter with an old fracture in his front paw, which later led to his right leg getting amputated to ease discomfort for the future. He has recovered very well, and he doesn't even notice anything is missing. Koda doesn't like dogs walking by his kennel, but he does fine with them in a larger fenced area. He prefers a home without cats and children but would need a meet and greet to determine how he would do with a doggy sibling. Koda would be absolutely grateful for a loving family!
Meet Sylvester, a 2-year-old male mixed-breed domestic shorthaired cat that is neutered and vaccinated. Sylvester would be best in a home by himself without any dogs or children, as he likes his own space. He takes a while to warm up, but he is very sweet and affectionate. Sylvester is looking for a quiet home with someone who can give him the time he needs to adjust.
