I have competed in VEX Robotics for two years. I qualified for the state competition both years, including advancing to the semifinal in “Spin Up.” I have mostly programmed for this team but also have some experience as a co-builder. I participated in the VEX IQ competition in 8th grade, but the coronavirus pandemic ended our season before we went to any competitions.

I am competing in VEX “Over Under” this season and plan to compete in VEX in my senior year as well. I plan to attend college to major in engineering. I have not decided on a specific school or engineering discipline. Outside of robotics, I am a part of our school’s drama club. I have been in our spring musical for 2 years. I am also on the track and field team. I would like to return to the state competition and contend for a spot to Worlds. We came one match away last year, and I would like to surpass that.

I started in VEX IQ, during my 8th grade year. Then I did VRC for my 9th grade year, which I had really enjoyed. Even before I had the chance to start robotics in school, my dad had been running some of the local competitions and taught a class that did robotics. So, I had a decent bit of experience and knowledge before I actually started in school. I plan on doing robotics for my junior and senior years. I also plan on trying to make it to Worlds for the rest of the time I have in robotics. I plan on going to college, although I'm still not sure what for. My biggest interest right now is cyber security. I also hope to keep the honor roll for the rest of my time in high school. Some of my hobbies are playing hockey in the summer/fall, playing video games in my free time, and working on robots. This year I want to make it to the VEX World Championship. I would still be very happy if we made it to the state competition.

I have competed in the VRC games, “Tipping Point” and “Spin Up.” My team had qualified to the quarter finals in the State competition during the VRC game, “Tipping Point” and qualified to semi-finals in the State competition during the VRC game, “Spin up,” losing by 10 points. I also competed during my 8th grade year in VEX IQ.  I have also observed my brother throughout all his years during robotics and got some early “hands on” experience from working with him. I will also be dividing my time and participate in the BEST robotics competition and most likely my senior year as well. Another thing that would interest me within the field of robotics would be to compete on the collegiate level.

I want to continue to work on my academics and extracurricular activities throughout my high school career. I want to attend Penn State Behrend for Mechanical Engineering and play baseball. I enjoy physical activities and sports. I love playing baseball and I also play hockey. Along with that, I enjoy studying and building computers, singing within and out of my chorus, and acting. My goal for robotics this year is to qualify for the World’s competition. I also want to compete highly within the BEST robotics program as well.

In 8th grade I participated in VEX IQ where I designed, built, and programmed the robot. My team qualified for states for the “Slapshot” competition. Before the competition I had never really had a lot of knowledge of robotics, but after participating in it I am glad I did. I plan on participating in the competition this year and any others I can throughout high school. After high school, I would like to attend college and get a couple degrees in the women’s medical field. I participate in swimming, hockey, drama club, and chorus. I have been swimming for 5 years; as well as, playing hockey. I participated in 6 musicals over the years, and this is my first year of chorus. My goal is to be a good teammate and help my teammates do well, but another goal is to try to make it past states this year.
