Administration Welcome Package

There are many administrators at Cranston High School East! They want you to get involved and succeed! Feel free and safe to reachout to any admin member if you are having an issue. Our current principal here at East is Mr.Barbieri, assistant principals are Mrs. Tejada, Ms.Hitchings, Mr. DePalma, Ms. Ward, and Ms. Kopecky. Mr. Barbieri

This is our new principal, Mr. Barbieri. Welcome back to East!

"Cranston has afforded my family and I many opportunities throughout our years in the community. I have been fortunate to live in Cranston, coach in Cranston, be a part of Cranston Public Schools for 32 years and have two children who graduated from Cranston Public Schools. It is our goal to make sure that you have the same opportunities that my family had in Cranston. WE are East!" - Mr. Barbieri

Ms. Hitchings

This is Ms. Hitchings. She has been an administrator at Cranston High School East for the past 3 years and is head of the Guidance Department. Guidance counselors help students identify their goals in three domains: academic, career, and personal/social. Ms. Hitchings says that the biggest problem with incoming 9th graders is the amount of school they've missed because of Covid. Students need to continue to build organizational and social skills to be successful in high school.

Here are a few words from Mr. DePalma himself:

" I have been an administrator in Cranston since 2000 and have experience in all levels of education throughout Cranston. I have always admired the pride that East students have in their school. Ms. Ward

Here are a few words from Ms. Ward herself:

" I am very excited to be a part of the team here at Cranston High School East. As a member of the Office of Student Services, we work to support students to make positive decisions as they complete high school and move on to post-secondary opportunities. I have been an administrator at Bain Middle School and Gladstone Street School as well as advocating for Multilingual Learners at the district level and now here at East." - Ms. Ward (Assistant Principal)

Ms. Kopecky

Here is a little bit about Ms. Kopecky:

" I have been teaching for 22 years, starting off at a private school, where I was the special education coordinator for 11 years. I then moved to Mt. Pleasant High School in Providence for 10 years as an inclusion specialist. Now I am here at Cranston High School East working as an inclusion teacher." - Ms. Kopecky (Assistant Principal)

Ms. Sledzik is a new guidance counselor and social aid here at East. She is someone you can go to when you are having any type of issue. Whether you are struggling with addiction, or need someone to vent to who isn't in your family, know that you can go to Ms.Sledzik and have a fully confidential conversation with her. Please note that if you are talking about self-harm or harming others or have witnessed a crime, she is legally obligated to inform the admin staff, your families, and if needed, the police.
