Why Not To Play Ultimate
Ultimate is a fast moving, non-contact team sport.
Ultimate puts sportsmanship first. If you are a win-at-all-costs personality type, ultimate isn't for you. As one example, we applaud when our opponents make great plays too.
Ultimate players avoid dangerous plays involving physical contact with other players. This reduces the chance of injury for themselves, their teammates and their opponents. If you like sports with heavy physical contact, then perhaps try that other spring sport that starts with the letter "R".
Ultimate involves running fast. Although some of our ultimate players don't like to run, when they see a frisbee flying through the air, they can't help but sprint after it. For those that like throwing frisbees, but don't run fast, there is disc golf.
If you enjoy running ovals or timed running or running without changing direction or doing the same thing over and over again slightly faster, then ultimate is probably not for you.
If you have poor eye-hand coordination, then ultimate probably isn't for you.
Ultimate is self-officiated. If you prefer referees, lacrosse has them -- just hope they rule fairly and in your favor.
Ultimate players don't intentionally break the rules to gain advantage. If you enjoy breaking the rules and are good at not getting caught, then perhaps ultimate isn't for you.
Ultimate allows players to sub out to rest after each point is completed. If you never want to sub out, then ultimate may not be for you. That said, some elite ultimate players with stamina do play most points in a game.
You don't like fun. It bothers you. You are too serious to play this sport.
