Fast CRLS athletes have a choice in the spring between Track and Ultimate. In both sports you'll get in great shape and achieve continuous improvement. Both sports require minimal equipment. Here's our (biased) guide to your decision:
Are you willing to try something new?
Are you a field sport team player or more focused on achieving individual goals?
Can you change direction quickly?
Do you like to use your arms and hands?
Do you prefer to score goals, deliver creative passes and make defensive blocks, ... or take seconds off your PR?
What does your ideal sports practice look like?
Do you like ice cream, cookies and brownies at practices?
Are you okay with spending 6 hours at track meets to run as little as possible? In ultimate, games are 90 minutes and tournaments feature multiple games per day. Everyone gets lots of playing time so you get to run much more.
Did you run winter Track and are afraid to change? Will you make your life decisions out of fear or seeking more fun?
Do you want to continue in college? How fast of a track time will you need to make a D3 or D1 college team? How far are you willing to travel for track meets to run as little as possible? Our CRLS alumni who wanted to play in college are doing so and having fun. There is incredible team camaraderie and spirit. The entire community is a blast. College ultimate teams are known for throwing the best parties on campus. :-)
Can't decide? How about both? Run track in the winter and play ultimate in the spring? That's a great combo.
About 75% of our CRLS ultimate roster are new to our sport. They hope you will join us and discover why ultimate has become one of their favorite sports.
