Italian/Spanish 4 Honors

Italian 4

This course follows successful completion of Italian III. This course is designed to allow students to further develop their skills of listening, reading and writing in Italian, with a special focus on linguistic competency. Students will use various media, such as text and film, to discuss opinions, have debates and present research. The reliance on authentic materials will allow students to develop a deeper understanding of contemporary Italian culture. A conversational approach that integrates the use of colloquial terms and idiomatic expressions will help students develop the ability to communicate using the language as it is spoken in Italy today.


Requirements: Summer Assignment, Local Final Exam in June

Prerequisite: Mastery on FLACS B Exam, Departmental approval

Recommended: Grade of 85 or better in Italian 3


*Successful students should plan to spend approximately 5 hours per week outside of class on this course.

Spanish 4

This course will begin to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Spanish Exam that will be taken the following year. It is conducted in the target language to further develop listening and speaking skills. There is an emphasis on advanced grammar as well as various literary and cultural selections. Students will communicate with spoken and written forms using interpretive, interpersonal and presentational modes.
