IB Middle Years Programme

Taft High School has been authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the IB Middle Years Programme (IB-MYP) since 2015. At Taft, all students in grades 7 through 10 are IB-MYP students. All International Baccalaureate schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering a challenging and high quality program of international education.

The IB Middle Years Programme aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally, and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

IB-MYP students take course in 8 subject areas:

All 10th grade students complete an IB-MYP Personal Project. This project encourages students to explore a topic of personal interest, strengthen skills in pursuit of a learning goal and the creation of a product, and reflect on personal growth and development.
