What is the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP)?
The IBCP program is open to new students living in Taft’s attendance area and current Taft students who are not in the IB Diploma Programme. The IBCP incorporates the vision and educational principles of the IB into a unique programme specifically developed for students who wish to engage in career-related learning while also being challenged with multiple IB Diploma courses. The IBCP will enable students to prepare for success in college/university and for effective participation in an ever-changing world of work as they develop the following skills:
Consider new perspectives and other points of view
Engage in learning that makes a positive difference
Develop a combination of traditional academic skills and practical skills
Think critically and creatively in a rapidly changing and global workplace
Communicate clearly and effectively
Work independently and in collaboration with others
Develop self-confidence, resilience, and flexibility
The IBCP Framework:
The IBCP framework begins in the 11th grade and is a two-year programme which allows students to specialize in, and focus on, a career-related pathway. The programme’s three-part framework comprises the study of:
At least two IB Diploma Programme courses
Career-related studies (junior and senior years)
The IBCP core class, Personal and Professional Skills, which includes Service Learning, Language Development, and the Reflective Project

Chicago Police and Firefighter's Training Academy - off campus and must complete an external application
IB Diploma Programme courses:
All IBCP students will enroll in the CP-specific core course, Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) for junior and senior years. Additionally, students will take at least two IBDP level courses. The first IBDP course will be IB Language & Literature. The second IBDP course can be a one year option or a two year option. Some IBCP students elect to take more than two IBDP courses.
