Northside offers challenging and innovative courses in all subject areas. We fundamentally believe that all students deserve an excellent program of instruction that challenges students at the highest level required for productive citizenship and employment.
Our program of study is shaped by our educational philosophy.
• Learning is enhanced when content is placed in meaningful context, when students are given multiple opportunities to connect and apply what they are studying in meaningful ways.
• A complete and coherent curriculum must focus on the development of concepts, skills, and processes that enable students to formulate, analyze, and solve problems proficiently.
• The entire curriculum must focus on the development of
communication skills.
• Our educational programs are influenced by the ubiquitous presence of technology in our daily lives.

All courses offered are college preparatory courses and are at the Honors or AP-level. Requirements are as follows:
• A program of courses is developed with the student and their advisor. Final course selection will need the approval of department chairs and the parents.
• All core courses are offered at the honors or advanced placement level.
• Each student must pass an examination on the Declaration of Independence, the Flag of the United States, the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois.
• Each student must complete a course integrating Financial Education.
