In this first challenge, teams will build to meet the following criteria and build it within 30 minutes.
Using a 10x10 patch of land, create a functional terrarium. There is no vertical limit to the build.
Try to create the essence of a terrarium. Experiment with different blocks and biomes!
NPCs are optional
In the third challenge, teams will build to meet the following criteria and build it within 30 minutes.
All materials can be used for this build. No Restrictions.
Create a scene from a story that your team makes on the spot
Use NPCs as characters within your story
Use a Book and Quill to write down your explanation of the lore behind your story. This will be weighed greatly when scoring.
In the second challenge, teams will build to meet the following criteria and build it within 30 minutes.
A Crowd of NPCs should interact like tourists visiting the museum
Create a small and simple redstone contraption within the build
Create a “main attraction” and explain why it is so special. Is it a statue? Is it an ancient building?
In this first challenge teams will build to meet the following criteria and build it within 30 minutes.
Incorporate a redstone contraption into the build. It must use pistons in some shape or form.
NPCs should be used in order to show the usefulness of the contraption
The more complex the design and build is, the better the score the build will receive
However, it must do what it was designed to do! If it fails to activate, or fails halfway, that could negatively affect your score!
Winter is coming… and what are you going to do about it? Celebrate with friends? Prepare for the oncoming cold? A little bit of both? You decide!
Is this build going to be fantastical? Or more grounded?
How will the people stay warm in the winter months?
Can winter be cozy?
Let your creativity run wild!
Skyscrapers and buildings are monuments of human engineering, however, they stick out like a sore thumb around the natural beauty of the world. How would a building look if we decided to blend it into the surrounding landscape?
What biome will you use? Will it be a mountainous biome? A snowy tundra biome? A Jungle Biome? A savanna biome?
How will the building look? Will it look like a traditional building with decorations/nature that allows it to blend into the landscape? Or will it be built directly into the landscape?
How can you incorporate the natural features of the world around the building into your build?
How can you integrate your building(s) into different natural environment features? (mountains, lakes, hills, cliffs, etc)
How do the materials you use help your structures blend into the environment?
Is this just one building/house? Or is it a group of them or a whole town/city?
The last challenge… will be challenging! For this playoff challenge, your team must pick a city, from the current day or from the past, look at the architecture associated with that city, and try to create a building, or buildings, that would fit right in. You can add fantastical elements to the build, but make sure that it looks like something that can fit within the city. A classical Roman style home would not fit in architecturally within modern day Tokyo. Chicago and cities from the medieval period cannot be used.
You can use either the Block of Grass map, or can use a randomly generated world
Will the biome improve the feel of the build?
While it should look like something from the city, don’t let that limit you. Make it as fantastical as you want it to be!
Will it be a single building, or multiple buildings?
Think of challenges that architects would face when adding a building into an existing modern city. Will the building be shaped oddly because there is a train track near it? What if it’s being built on a small piece of land next to a body of water?
Will the building be a home? An office building? A bakery? Will that change the way it would look? Especially in ancient times?
What kind of ancient civilization can it be based on? Ancient Egypt? Ancient Aztec? Ancient Huns? Another ancient civilization? How will their buildings look differently compared to each other? You decided! Don’t play by the book, make something amazing and Fantastical!!!
Architects have focused on the future of house design, but what about the past Design and build a fantasy medieval style village!
Where will your team members live/work/play?
Can you research and add some obscure Ancient Technologies?
Will there be a castle? Maybe a different, more obscure, centerpiece?
Are there dragons or monsters attacking the village?
Will there be a moat around the village? Or farmland? Maybe a wall or two?
Is it peaceful? Or is your village at war with their neighboring kingdom?
Will your knights have horses? Where are they going to keep them?
Or maybe something completely different?
