8th Grade

Assessment Schedule: 

Students have one formative assessment per week, rotating between Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational. The objectives for each quarter and mode of communication are listed below.

8th Grade Quarter 1:

Unit Theme: À Chacun Son Goût: How do my preferences reflect who I am?

Interpretive Reading: I can identify some basic facts from memorized or familiar words and phrases when they are supported by gestures or visuals in informational texts.

Interpersonal Speaking:  I can express my own preferences and react to those of others, using a mixture of practiced or memorized words, phrases, simple sentences, and questions.

Presentational Writing: I can present information about my preferences using a mixture of practiced or memorized words, phrases and simple sentences

8th Grade Quarter 2:

Unit Theme:  Tu as fait bon voyage? Did you have a good trip?

Interpretive Reading: I can identify the topic and some isolated elements from simple sentences in texts about travel.

Interpersonal Speaking: I can request and provide information related to travel using practiced and some original questions and simple sentences.

Presentational Writing: I can present information about my travel experiences using simple sentences most of the time.

8th Grade Quarter 3:

Unit Theme:  Mon Enfance (My Childhood)

Interpretive Listening: I can understand and interpret written and spoken texts in the past tense related to childhood experiences, such as stories, anecdotes, and historical events.

Interpersonal Speaking: I can to engage in conversational exchanges using the past tense to discuss childhood memories, compare experiences, and express emotions related to their childhood.

Presentational Writing: I can create and present narrations, skits, or presentations in the past tense, describing their childhood, family life, and significant events.

8th Grade Quarter 4:

Unit Theme:  French Impressionism and Identity Through Art

Interpretive: I can understand articles about painters and paintings. I can understand a video about a painter or painting.

Interpersonal Speaking: I can exchange information about a painting.

Presentational Speaking: I can present information about a painting, including who I think painted it.
