1. Google Classroom keeps emailing me saying I have missing work that I already did.
If you complete an assignment on Google Classroom, it does not automatically mark it as completed. You have to manually submit each time. Here's a quick video to show how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipbqCxEDLsU
2. How do I turn in an assignment on Google Classroom?
3. How do I know if I'm missing assignments?
Please keep checking Aspen (students 3rd-8th) for any missing assignments. Do not rely on grades in Google Classroom - Aspen is the official and most accurate place for your grades.
4. How can I study at home?
There are some resources available through the Chicago Public Library. If your student does not yet have a library card for the Chicago Public Library, they are eligible to get one for free!
Once you have a library card, there are two language learning online resources offered here:
Little Pim (Kinder-2nd grade)
Mango Languages (3rd-8th grade)
In addition, the library does have some French language children's books (some in English / some in French). If you are interested in purchasing books for your own home, I recommend looking at the used books at Open Books. This is where I have found many French children's books for my own kids and for our classroom.
5. Do you accept late work?
Homework assignments can be turned in late when discussed with the teacher and still receive credit.
Projects that are turned in late will be deducted 10% off the final grade for each day turned in late.
Assessments and in-class work must be completed on the day they are assigned.
Make-up assignments for students who are absent will be given as soon as possible to make sure the information is fresh and the student does not fall behind on new content.
6. What do I need to bring to French class?
Students in grades 1st-8th are required to bring a black French folder and notebook to every class.
Students in grades 3rd-5th coming from the branch are strongly encouraged to have a language bag (a tote / sport sack) to transport their materials. Many of these students share lockers and their notebooks have a history of mysteriously disappearing!
All students are asked to bring a pack of crayons and glue sticks at the beginning of the school year to be used in the classroom. If you'd like to contribute any other supplies to our classroom, here are some items we frequently use: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7S18A7Q1S0GV?ref_=wl_share
7. What are the grade categories in World Languages?
30% Interpretive
30% Presentational
30% Interpersonal
10% Other
