The EqRA Framework
The EqRA Framework maps out what it looks like to engage in equity-centered research throughout every stage of the research lifecycle. Equity must be more than a subject of research; equity must be embedded throughout the process. The EqRA Framework lays out a vision for what equity in the research process could look like. The EqRA Framework is not intended to be used as a rubric for research partnerships. We offer these considerations as a way to set rigorous standards for research and collaboration, and we are eager to offer guidance and support as our collaborators work toward implementing more of these practices.
LIBERATORY THINKNG
Liberatory thinking is the reimagining of one’s assumptions and beliefs about others and their capabilities by interrupting internal beliefs that undermine productive relationships and actions.
INCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIPS
Inclusive partnerships value and prioritize the diverse voices of students, families, caregivers, and communities when making decisions that affect their lived experiences.
RESOURCE EQUITY
Resource equity means consistently prioritizing and allocating people, time, and money to align with levels of need and opportunity. Resource equity recognizes that providing the same amount of resources to students and schools with different lived experiences, assets, and challenges will maintain the status quo of unequal achievement.
FAIR POLICIES & SYSTEMS
Fair policies and systems promote equitable opportunities to reach equal positive academic and socioemotional outcomes for all student and stakeholder groups with an emphasis on those who are most impacted by structural inequality and inequity.
