MEMO #3 • Did Not Arrive (DNA) Code 99 Process for SY23
It is important that accurate attendance be taken on a daily basis. Attendance coordinators must work closely with teachers to ensure that attendance is submitted accurately for all students. Students who are not present on the first day of school, Monday, August 22, 2022, must be marked absent. At the end of the day, Aspen will assign a Code 99: Did Not Arrive to all ABSENT UNEXCUSED students. Success of the Did Not Arrive Process depends on the coordination amongst schedulers, teachers, attendance personnel, and status coordinators. Contact the CPS IT Service Desk at (773) 553-3925 if you need additional guidance.
Additionally, to ensure your efforts to connect students with barriers to arriving to school are accounted for, there are a few important updates to the DNA process:
All outreach efforts must be logged into the Aspen Outreach Log. This includes calls, home visits or other methods of outreach. Where possible, you are encouraged to use the outreach survey located in the Outreach Log when speaking to families about why their student missed the first day of school. Note that in some instances, the survey may have already been completed during summer outreach.
Reference this guide for instructions on how to enter outreach attempts and survey responses.
