Physicians Data

The meat of this analysis was intended to be an examination of various factors of healthcare accessibility, including metrics like the number of available clinics or physicians within an area. Unfortunately, there were several issues we encountered: there was not much information available on the subject, and that which was available is outdated or would have to be categorized by hand. Given the time constraints involved, we ultimately decided to examine a few datasets that are outdated (from around 2010) but could still be of use in this analysis. Unfortunately, the two datasets that we used (primary care providers per capita and specialist physicians per capita) did not have any real linear correlation present with the unemployment rate. The scattering of points in these graphs does potentially suggest a non-linear relationship, but this was not explored. Both of these graphs have had outliers removed programmatically for readability, but the correlation is incredibly poor with or without them (the unmodified graphs are preserved here).
