Digital arts are any creative works made and presented using digital technology. These can include animation, video, photography, graphic design, game design and 3D modeling. We welcome artists of all interests and levels.

This advanced course challenges students to develop a personal and cohesive body of work that demonstrates mastery of 2D design principles through digital media, photography, and mixed media. Students will explore composition, visual storytelling, and conceptual development while refining technical skills in digital imaging, photo manipulation, and other design processes.
Through research, critique, and iterative creation, students will analyze historical, social, and cultural influences on art while forming their own artistic voice. Emphasis is placed on the art-making process, experimentation, and sustained investigation of a central theme.
Students will prepare and submit a portfolio for AP evaluation, meeting the rigorous standards of the AP 2D Design Portfolio. The course fosters independent thinking, critical analysis, and innovative problem-solving, preparing students for creative careers and further study in visual arts.

Typical Homework Commitment: Students should expect to spend 4–6 hours per week on homework, which includes creating and refining portfolio pieces, experimenting with digital techniques, and researching artistic influences. Weekly tasks involve producing artwork, maintaining a sketchbook with process notes and planning, and engaging in critiques or reflections.

This intensive course in Digital Imaging will introduce students to the range of tools and techniques utilized to produce digital images. Students will learn to operate digital imaging tools (both still-frame and video), learn and utilize digital imaging vocabulary and terms, imaging software to manipulate still and moving images, and develop a collection of projects showcased in an online format.

Digital Independent Study Art is a self-directed course designed for advanced students seeking to develop a personalized body of digital artwork. Students will refine their skills in digital imaging, photography, graphic design, Animation, 3D Modeling and/or multimedia art, using industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Emphasis is placed on creative exploration, conceptual development, and technical mastery through independent projects, critiques, and research. Students will set individual goals, engage in self-assessment, and prepare work suitable for portfolios, exhibitions, or AP Studio Art submission. This course provides flexibility while maintaining high artistic and technical standards. Course can be taken multiple times or taken for AP Studio Art: 2D Design credit.

Digital Photography I is an introductory course that explores the fundamentals of photography using digital tools. Students will learn camera operation, composition, lighting, and editing techniques while developing an understanding of photography as an artistic and communicative medium. Emphasis will be placed on visual storytelling, creative problem-solving, and technical proficiency using smartphone cameras and digital editing software, including Adobe Creative Cloud. Through hands-on projects, critiques, and analysis of historical and contemporary photography, students will build a strong foundation in digital image-making and visual literacy. No prior art experience is required.
