Knowledge:
I have learned that professionalism is an acquired skill that constantly needs work. Being professional in everything we do reflects on our personal character and how we are perceived. Every class that I took taught me how to be a professional in its own way. It varied from communicating with the professors and classmates to the assignments. COVID-19 did not allow contact with patients and other professionals, but I was able to do this through my paramedic classes.
Skills:
I now understand the importance of acting like a professional in everyday life. I know to think about what I am going to say before I speak or write an email. I now have a better understanding of the importance of acting like a professional to patients because that will allow them to trust me more. Professionalism has taught me how to take responsibility for my actions better so that I am looked at as a competent individual. I am also able to understand the importance of being a professional by knowing how to interact with everyone because you never know when or how you will meet them again.
Attitudes:
My attitude towards being as much of a professional as I can has not changed. I have always known the importance but the course I took gave me a more in-depth look at it and how it affects us. I will take this knowledge and continue working at it throughout my daily life so that I continue growing as a person.
