Knowledge:
Throughout my Health Sciences courses I have been able learn about the many ways that we communicate with other people. I have learned how to be more empathetic and a better listener. I have gained the knowledge of how to better understand different cultures. I have learned the importance of writing and speaking clearly to others so that misunderstandings do not happen as often. The most important think I have learned about communicating to others is to talk to everyone with respect.
Skills:
My communication skills have greatly improved over the past couple of years. I have been able to use this attribute through course papers and team projects. I am now able to use these skills verbally through PowerPoint presentations throughout my various courses. I have seen my writing growth over the past few years and am amazed at how much I have progressed. Through peer-review assignments I have learned how to tactfully communicate with my peers.
Attitudes:
My attitude towards communication has greatly improved while taking these courses. I understand the importance of how we project our self-image to others through verbal and non-verbal cues. I now know that through the communication process we leave a lasting impression of who we are by showing how much we care about others. I will take this information and continue building on it in my personal and professional settings so that I am able to show the respect that is needed towards others.
