The Nurse's clinic is located on Howard Hall. If you experience any of the following situations, you should ask the nearest adult to see the nurse: bleeding that requires more than a band-aid, difficulty breathing, a broken bone or lost tooth, burns that need more than basic first aid, a head, face, or neck injury, a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, or if you need to visit the nurse for an ongoing condition like asthma or diabetes. Additionally, if you need to take your medications, please follow the procedures outlined.
Whenever it is necessary for you to receive medication at school, the following guidelines must be followed:
Prescription Medicines: These will be administered by school personnel only if prescribed and ordered by a physician for that particular student. All medication must be kept in the nurse’s office.
Non-Prescription Medicines: These will be given only for a short-term duration (less than two weeks) and must be in the original container. They must be accompanied by a written parental request and instructions for administration. The container must also include the student’s name and instructions for administration.
Parental Permission: School personnel must have a written statement of permission, signed by the parent or guardian, directing that the medication be given at school. This statement must include specific information about the medication, dosage, and time of administration. Appropriate forms can be obtained from the school office.
Extended Periods: If medication needs to be administered for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks, medication forms must be filled out by the parent or guardian.
Transportation and Possession: We discourage any medication being transported by students on the school buses. Students are not allowed to carry any medication in their possession on school campus.
Following these guidelines ensures that medications are administered safely and appropriately during school hours.
