Understanding and following school policies and procedures is crucial for creating a positive and productive high school experience. At ECHS, we emphasize the importance of the Attendance Policy, Code of Conduct and Behavior Expectations, and Dress Code to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone. This is a brief overview. Please reference the CCSS Student Handbook for a complete overview.
Attendance Policy: Regular attendance is vital for your academic success. Being present in class allows you to fully engage in lessons, participate in discussions, and keep up with assignments. Consistent attendance helps you stay on track and achieve your academic goals.
Code of Conduct and Behavior Expectations: Adhering to our Code of Conduct ensures that all students can learn in a safe and supportive environment. Positive behavior fosters mutual respect and helps build a strong school community where everyone can thrive.
Dress Code: Our dress code is designed to promote a respectful and distraction-free learning environment. Dressing appropriately for school shows respect for yourself and others, and helps maintain a focus on learning.
By understanding and following these policies, you contribute to a positive school atmosphere and set yourself up for success in high school and beyond.
You may be able to exempt course finals by having great grades, great attendance, and great behavior!
Showing up to school every day is super important. Missing even a single day in our block schedule means you're essentially missing two days' worth of instruction.
If you do have to be absent, make sure to turn in your absence notes within three days of returning to school. This way, your absences are properly recorded and you can stay on top of your work. Remember, missed assignments might not be accepted if your absence is considered unlawful.
Absence excuses will not be accepted after three days.
We are dedicated to maintaining an orderly, safe, and supportive educational environment. To achieve this, we have a code of conduct that requires students to behave respectfully and responsibly, ensuring a positive learning atmosphere for everyone.
Key points of our code of conduct include:
Respect for Others: You must respect fellow students and school staff.
Adherence to Policies: You are expected to follow behavior policies and rules established by the Board and our school.
Behavior Standards: The focus is on education, but corrective actions may be taken if your behavior disrupts others' rights.
The code of conduct applies:
On School Property: At any time.
During School Activities: Off school grounds.
Transportation: On school buses and at bus stops.
Additionally, you may face consequences for off-campus behavior that threatens the school environment or safety.
You and your parents are encouraged to understand and support the Code of Conduct at all times.
East Coweta High School discipline consequences are determined by the principal and assistant principals and follow the Student Code of Conduct for Coweta County Schools. Consequences for behaviors that violate the code of conduct may include:
Loss of privileges
Reassignment of seats in the classroom, cafeteria, or school bus
Reassignment of classes
In-school suspension
Out-of-school suspension
Detention
Expulsion
Assignment to an alternative school
At East Coweta High School, we believe in creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. That's why we implement PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a framework that helps us foster positive behavior and academic success.
Our PBIS program encourages you to be:
Engaged: Actively participate in your classes, stay focused on your studies, and involve yourself in school activities.
Caring: Show respect to your teachers, peers, and school staff. Practice good manners and be kind to everyone you meet.
Helpful: Support your classmates, lend a hand when needed, and contribute positively to our school community.
Studious/Significant: Dedicate yourself to your academic work, strive for excellence, and take responsibility for your learning.
By following these principles, you not only enhance your own high school experience but also contribute to a positive atmosphere where everyone can thrive. PBIS helps us recognize and reward positive behavior, ensuring that East Coweta High School remains a place where students can achieve their best.
Be Engaged, Caring, Helpful, Significant and Studious—be the best version of yourself for ECHS!
