Please be aware that a combination of data points drives final decisions for movement in the tiers. A recommendation does not guarantee student movement in the tiers, but it doesn't ensure the student's data and performance is evaluated, so an informed decision can be made.
Student failed or has struggled in reading-based classes in previous years and/or is failing your class currently
Tier 1 instructional strategies aren't addressing their deficits
Student has been flagged EIP for reading or tier 2 ELA in elementary school and is still struggling
Failed the last GMAS
Student is accumulating an abnormal number of discipline points
Student is chronically misbehaving and/or displaying off-task behaviors
Student is having a very difficult time refraining him/herself from blowing up or maintaining acceptable responses to stressors and/or disagreements
You think he/she would benefit from check-in / check-out - (a systematized reminders, accountability, communication with stakeholders, and closer relationship with a staff member)
Student chronically has missing and/or incomplete work, and you think he/she would benefit from check-in / check-out - (a systematized reminders, accountability, communication with stakeholders, and closer relationship with a staff member)
Tier 2 interventions have proved unsuccessful in addressing deficits, and the student is currently failing
Student has had EIP and/or tier 2 flags for a 2 years or more, and the student is currently failing
Tier 2 check-in / check-out has proved unsuccessful
The student is still chronically misbehaving after a whole semester of tier 2 support - (still accumulating a inordinate number of discipline points)
You believe increasing the frequency of check-in / check-out sessions to weekly will help
Tier 2 check-in / check-out has proved unsuccessful
The student is still chronically misbehaving after a whole semester of tier 2 support
You believe increasing the frequency of check-in / check-out sessions to weekly will help
We will look at the following data:
Milestone's scores
Beacon scores
MARS scores
9-week and semester averages
Teacher/school staff recommendations
Parent/guardian recommendations
Attendance & transience
Behavior (referrals, grade-level tracker points, restorative services flag, etc.)
Elevate flags
Length of time in the tiers and/or EIP program
We will then determine whether there will be:
Movement to a higher tier
Retention in the current tier
Movement to a lower tier
