Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
I am delighted to write Cosmos Primary School's first newsletter. Firstly, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support the last three years.
We are excited to welcome you and our children back to school on June 12th. We have been planning and preparing for our Cosmonauts' learning for the coming year since the last three weeks. Our educators are also working on their professional learning and development. Further in this newsletter, you will find information on parent orientation sessions and the preparatory program for our new children.
I would like to officially welcome our new Deputy Principal, Mrs. Swathi Yenugudhati, and our new educators, Mrs. Parvathi, Mrs. Rudhira, Mrs. Yamini Varma, Mrs. Hymavathi and Mrs. Bhagya Lakshmi. We have many new children across all grades in all the three year groups starting their learning journey with us this year.
We have restructured our communication channels to become more transparent and informative. From this year, you can access up-to-date information and resources on the School site and class pages and these newsletters. We have also updated our handbooks for parents and students to help you understand our school policies, curriculum, and codes of conduct.
We are also renaming and restructuring our Parent Orientation program. From now on it will be called Nurture Club. This was done mainly for us to collaborate as a community and a commitment, a place where parents are encouraged to engage actively in their child's education and growth.
These changes may come as a big shift for most of us, but we hope that they will help us better collaborate to work for our children. Please continue to give us feedback. I would love to hear from you for any ideas or reflections. These changes will be explained in detail in the parent orientation sessions.
I am really excited for the coming year and look forward to meeting you and our children in the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Devi Shankar, Principal.
Dear Parents and Students,
My name is Mrs. Swathi Yenugudhati, and I am absolutely thrilled to join the Cosmos School community. I anticipate an enriching year ahead, brimming with learning and new adventures. I am eager to embark on this journey and excited to discover what the year has in store for us!
Before we delve into this educational journey, let me share a bit about myself. I was born and raised in Visakhapatnam, a city I hold dear to my heart. After graduating, I moved to the USA to attend Sacramento University, where I pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education and I also obtained a Diploma in Montessori from the North American Montessori Center. This experience led me into the rewarding field of teaching.
After spending nine enriching years in the USA, I returned to Vizag and worked as a Curriculum Designer and Social Emotional Well-being Planner in an international school for five years. These experiences have shaped my educational philosophy and approach.
At home, I'm a mother to a son who is a bundle of joy and keeps me engaged and on my toes at all times!
One of my fundamental beliefs as an educator is the importance of maintaining a strong, open line of communication between home and school. After all, we share something very special in common - your child. It's vital for us to function as a cohesive family, treating each other with respect, kindness, and compassion.
As educators and parents, it's our shared responsibility to foster the growth of each student as a learner and as an individual of strong character and values. Everyone is unique, which means we all think and learn differently. Recognizing and nurturing this diversity is part of our task.
One aspect of Cosmos that truly excites me is our L.E.A.D.E.R. program for our educators. This initiative underscores our commitment to ongoing learning, not just for our students but also for our educators. I am looking forward to working closely with our dedicated team of educators through this program, guiding and supporting them in their professional growth. After all, 'life is learning' is not merely a phrase, but a principle we cherish. As teachers, we are lifelong learners, consistently ‘Learning, Engaging, Acquiring, Developing, Empowering and Reshaping’. Our shared dedication to this ethos of perpetual learning through collaboration is what propels us forward at Cosmos.
As your new Deputy Principal, I'm eager to contribute to your child's learning journey in this promising year ahead. I firmly believe that together we're going to make this a blockbuster year!
Thank you for your trust and support.
Warm regards,
Swathi Yenugudhati
Deputy Principal
Dearest Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. It is our pleasure to reconnect with you again this year and share some exciting news. We have restructured our curriculum into two parts: the Core curriculum and the Whole School Programs. The Early Years Program and the Cambridge primary program make up the Core curriculum, while the Whole School Programs are designed by Cosmos Primary for Reading, Speaking, Maths Mastery, Music and others. This restructuring was done to better plan, organize, and utilize our time and resources to enhance the learning experiences of our students.
The Core curriculum provides a strong foundation for our students while the Whole School Programs offer additional opportunities for learning and growth. By complementing each other, these two parts of our curriculum work together to help our students develop a love for learning. We believe that this restructuring will help us provide an even better education for our students. You will find more information about the curriculum on our class websites once they are made live and we will also explain them in detail during the parent orientation sessions.
We are excited to share this with you and hope that it will help you understand our curriculum better to enable you to help our Cosmonauts and support us in helping our children ‘fall in love with learning’. Thank you for your continued kindness and support, and we look forward to another great year ahead.
Mrs. Tejaswi and Mrs. Vineela,
Year Group Leads.
We are excited to launch our Nurture-Parent Club, a parent engagement initiative aimed at fostering a collaborative relationship between the school and the parent community. The club will offer workshops on curriculum topics, behavioral guidance, social and emotional learning support, and community building. Join us in this endeavor to promote a harmonious, all-rounded development of our students.
Nurture- Parent Club
Nurture Club Overview
The Nurture Club at Cosmos Primary School is a parent engagement initiative aimed at fostering a collaborative relationship between the school and the parent community. Our mission is to provide an understanding of our holistic approach to education encompassing Academic learning (Core Curriculum & Whole School Programs), Positive behavior (S.T.A.R Behavioural Expectations), and Social and Emotional development (Skills of the Heart).
Our intention is to build a strong and supportive partnership where parents feel educated, engaged, and empowered in supporting their children's learning journey at Cosmos Primary School. Here's an overview of what the Nurture Club encompasses:
Academic Empowerment: We offer workshops on various curriculum topics, familiarizing parents with the content and pedagogy adopted by the school. From understanding the structure of our curriculum to strategies for effective homework support and comprehending assessment methods, our goal is to empower parents to aid their child's academic progression.
Behavioral Guidance: We offer resources and interactive workshops for parents to comprehend and extend, at home, the principles of Positive Behavior and the S.T.A.R Expectations. Discussions on managing behavioral challenges, recognizing, and rewarding positive behavior form an integral part of this segment.
Social and Emotional Learning Support: Understanding and promoting social and emotional learning forms the third pillar of the Nurture Club. By exploring the 'Skills of the Heart' program and sharing strategies for promoting SEL at home, we aim to equip parents to foster emotional resilience in their children.
Community Building: Above all, Nurture Club seeks to cultivate a supportive community for parents. By providing a space for sharing experiences, raising concerns, and exchanging parenting strategies, we aim to create an environment where parents can learn from and lean on each other.
We invite all parents and guardians to join us in this endeavor to promote a harmonious, all-rounded development of our students in alignment with the Cosmos Primary School ethos.
We are thrilled to share that our beloved Mrs. Devi recently celebrated not one, but two significant milestones at Cosmos Primary. Not only did she commemorate another year around the sun, but she also marked an impressive 25 years as a dedicated educator.
Her special day was made even more memorable thanks to a beautiful cake, thoughtfully ordered by her daughters, Manjusha and Trividha and grandchildren, Shasika, Arnav and Arvin. The cake was not only a tribute to Mrs. Devi's birthday but also to her enduring service in shaping young minds.
In a heartfelt display of admiration and respect, some of our parents made personal video messages of appreciation and well wishes. Our educators' made a Canva card that captured the collective sentiment of gratitude towards Mrs. Devi for her invaluable contribution to Cosmos Primary and the countless lives she has positively impacted over the years.
Join us in honoring Mrs. Devi's remarkable commitment to education and her unwavering spirit. Here's to many more years of inspiring us all with her wisdom and dedication!
We recently had the joy of commemorating the birthday of our cherished music teacher, Mrs. Mouli. This year's celebration was particularly memorable for her, as she was able to celebrate with her husband after three years. Adding to the festivities, this was the first time she celebrated her birthday with her students, making the day even more special.
In a heartwarming gesture, one of her students brought a cake to her home, adding an extra layer of joy to the celebrations. Her children added to the happiness of the day by presenting her with a special greeting card, leaving her feeling grateful and cherished.
Turning 32, Mrs. Mouli's dedication to nurturing musical talent is the melody that guides our institution. Through this festive occasion, we were able to express our deep admiration for her unwavering commitment to our school's musical education.
Join us in wishing Mrs. Mouli a year ahead that's as harmonious and uplifting as her music lessons! Here's to the continuing journey of an extraordinary educator and a memorable birthday celebration.
