Here is what we are working on in each class!!!

8th Grade:  Radial Name Design

          Students learned about the Principle of Balance.  Mandalas were shown as examples of radial symmetry.  They are using their names as a base to create their design. See below for sketchbook assignments and due dates.

                                     Assignment #1: DUE DATE: OCTOBER 6th

Research different lettering styles.  Using one of these techniques or create your own, design a special monogram or create a design using your first name.(SKETCH MUST BE COLORED)

 Assignment #2: DUE DATE: NOVEMBER 10th

Imagine you are a designer for a wallpaper manufacturer. Design the wallpaper you would create to hang in your bedroom(SKETCH MUST BE COLORED)

  7th Grade: Perspective Name Design

Students reviewed using perspective to create the illusion of space.  They practiced making 3-D letters using perspective.  They will putting this skill into a perspective name design using either black/white or color or both. See below for sketchbook assignments and due dates.

Assignment #1: DUE DATE: OCTOBER 6th

New technology allows us to explore deeper areas of the oceans than we ever have before.  We now know about new types of fish and other creatures that we did not know existed. Create a sketch of creature that might have been discovered (SKETCH MUST BE COLORED)

         Assignment #2: DUE DATE: NOVEMVBER 10th

Sometimes artists, like Henri Matisse, try to convey a certain mood through their artwork. Choose one mood or feeling and draw and color several shapes that are symbols of this mood.(SKETCH MUST BE COLORED)

         6th Grade: Face Card Redesign

We looked at face cards and the different elements artists used to create them.  They are tasked with recreating a face card with these elements.  See below for sketchbook assignments and due dates.

Assignment # 1: DUE DATE: OCTOBER 6th

Some artists use only lines in their artwork.  Others use only shape.  Some use both line and shape.  Invent some unusual forms with shapes, lines, or a combination of both.(PENCIL ONLY)

      Assignment #2: DUE DATE: NOVEMBER 10th

Using 2-3 different tools and techniques, create a value scale from light to dark (ex. Crosshatching, shading with colored pencil or crayon)
