8th Literature
The AoW this week is on winter weather in Europe. It is in the form of a packet, with the questions due Friday. There is no additional writing task or quiz.
We will start the week by watching A Christmas Carol to refresh our memories of the story. This will set up the essay we're writing later on in English.
When we are done with the movie, we will begin our unit on Demonstration Speeches.
8th English
Vocabulary activities due on Thursday for everyone. Quiz on Friday for prefix/suffix vocab students.
We will review comma usage in writing, including compound and complex sentences, quotes, and restrictive/nonrestrictive clauses. Once we finish this mini-unit, we will start on the Author's Craft essay on A Christmas Carol.
6th Literature

We will begin our nonfiction unit by reading a passage from Fast Food Nation. Through the week, we will work on identifying the main idea and supporting details, and tracing how those ideas are developed.
6th English
tri Vocab activity due Thursday
We will begin a quick grammar unit on Pronouns. This will include identifying pronouns, identifying antecedents, clarifying antecedents, pronoun case, and variations on standard English pronoun usage. I anticipate getting to a test in the middle of next week.
