I grew up in the country just outside of Moorhead, MN with my mom, dad, and two younger sisters. My family is a significant support system in my life encouraging me to achieve my goals. With high school, college, and now applying for internships, my family pushes me to accomplish my dream to be a RD. It was pleasant living in the country, as the gravel roads gave me peaceful bike rides and long runs. In my free time I find pleasure spending time with family and friends, working out, being involved in campus clubs, and shopping. I spend summers at the lake, which is a benefit of living through the cold Minnesota winters. I have a cat named Rocky who is pictured on the left. I am an avid cat lover.
I always aspire to travel. Every year since I was 7, my family and I have made a trip to Florida in the winter. My grandparents have a condo in Fort Meyers and we cherish time spent with them in the abundant Florida heat. My family also has a passion for skiing in Montana. In the summer of 2017, my grandpa took us on a vacation to Alaska. We traveled around parts of Alaska in a RV to hike, see glaciers, and catch salmon. Because this was one of my favorite memories, it generated my interest to travel and explore the world.
When October comes around each year, the first thing that comes to my mind are pumpkins. My cousins, sisters, and I have been involved with our own pumpkin business for the last five years and counting. We work up the fields, purchase the seeds, and plant in May. The following few months include the labor of hoeing, picking, and selling. I am the oldest of our family, which grants me the abundance of responsibility to assure everything runs smoothly. This is a satisfying family tradition, which I anticipate to continue through my life.
I have had a phenomenal time while studying at Concordia. I spend my time doing homework with roommates, working out with friends, and attending Concordia football games. I have been blessed that Concordia has connected me to outstanding professors, marvelous friends, and exceptional experiences. Concordia has transformed me into a more outgoing person, both professionally and personally. My education has provided me the resources to pursue an impactful career in dietetics.
